Predators, Penguins combine for 90 penalty minutes in third period of Game 5

Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final was a lopsided affair in terms of the score, but it was a different story on the penalty sheet.

Things got out of hand in the third period of Thursday night’s contest, a 6-0 Pittsburgh win over the Nashville Predators that gave the Penguins a 3-2 series lead and an opportunity to hoist the Cup with a win in Sunday night’s Game 6.

Long before the third-period wildness even began, though, there was this scuffle between Penguins captain Sidney Crosby and Predators defenceman P.K. Subban.

Then, in the second, there was the now-infamous bottle toss by Sid the Kid.

Here’s a final tally of the damage, with the Predators amassing 52 PIMs in the third period, while the Penguins had 38.
