Predators poke fun at themselves after banner ceremony was roasted

“We beat them in playoffs,” Patrik Laine, Mathieu Perreault and coach Maurice aren’t worried that the Nashville Predators will be raising their division banners with them in the building

The Nashville Predators raised three banners prior to their home opener earlier this week, one of which resulted in some raised eyebrows from hockey fans.

The Preds celebrated the franchise’s first Central Division title and commemorated their first Presidents’ Trophy, but the third banner was a redundant “Regular Season Western Conference Champions” banner.

Not a great look considering Nashville was eliminated in the second round of the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Vegas Golden Nights raised a more fitting “Western Conference Champions” banner before their home opener after advancing to the Stanley Cup in the team’s inaugural season.

Everyone knows the internet is undefeated so naturally the team was roasted online. Here’s a small sample:

The Predators are aware of how the banner ceremony was received and on Friday they redeemed themselves slightly with this lighthearted tweet.

Nothin’ like hot chicken in a cold building.

The Preds play the Islanders on Saturday night. If they win, should we expect to see an “Undefeated During Second Weekend In October 2018” banner Monday when they host the Wild? Only time will tell.

Also, shout-out to Jay Chen who’s having a really productive month.
