It certainly wasn’t the retribution that some Chicago Blackhawks fans wanted, but Phoenix Coyotes forward Raffi Torres was forced to drop the gloves as payback for his hit on Marian Hossa during last season’s playoffs.
Thursday night, less than three minutes into the first period of Chicago’s 6-2 win, Blackhawks grinder Jamal Mayers fought Torres as a form of payback for a hit that saw Hossa carried of the ice on a stretch and Torres ultimately suspended 21 games by the NHL.
