New York Rangers team president John Davidson announced at a press conference Monday morning that forward Pavel Buchnevich and goaltender Igor Shesterkin were involved in a car accident in Brooklyn.

Davidson said Buchnevich is considered day-to-day, while Shesterkin sustained a non-displaced rib fracture and will be evaluated a couple weeks from now.

Shesterkin was driving the vehicle, both players were wearing seatbelts, the airbags deployed and both Russians were sent to NewYork–Presbyterian Hospital where they were seen by doctors.

Buchnevich, 24, was at his team’s practice Monday despite being shaken up. He is in his fourth season with the Rangers.

Shesterkin, also 24, is a rookie who’s 9-1 with a .941 save percentage and 2.33 goals-against average in seven appearances for the Rangers this season.
