The New York Rangers have agreed to terms on a contract with Swedish free agent forward Michael Lindqvist.

The team made the announcement Wednesday afternoon, although terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Lindqvist is coming off an impressive campaign with Färjestad BK in the Swedish Hockey League where the 23-year-old registered 20 goals, 14 assists and 22 penalty minutes in 33 regular-season games. Ten of the Danderyd, Sweden native’s goals came on the power play, which was good for second most in the SHL.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported in January that Lindqvist, a right-shot left winger, was among a handful of SHL stars being scouted by NHL teams.
