Report: Stars to waive goaltender Raycroft

According to a report out of ESPNDallas.com, goaltender Andrew Raycroft of the Dallas Stars will be waived on Wednesday morning.

Raycroft is 2-8-0 this season with a 3.52 goals-against average and 0.898 save percentage. He has spent time in Boston, Toronto, Colorado, Vancouver and Dallas during his 11-year NHL career and won the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year in 2000.

Should Raycroft clear waivers on Thursday, he would be sent Dallas’s AHL affiliate Texas Stars.

The move is made in correspondence with Dallas recalling injured goaltender Kari Lehtonen, who has been sidelined since Nov. 26 with a groin injury. Lehtonen participated in a full practice with the team on Tuesday.

The Stars expect Lehtonen to return to his role as starting goalie in Thursday night’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
