The Detroit Red Wings will be without goaltender Jonas Gustavsson for the next two months.
Gustavsson dislocated his shoulder Wednesday night while reaching for a rebound in overtime in Detroit’s 4-3 loss to the New York Rangers. The 30-year-old went 1-1-1 in three starts this season, registering a .908 save percentage and 2.30 goals-against average.
With Gustavsson on the shelf, the Red Wings called up goalie Peter Mrazek from the Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League Thursday.
“We feel fortunate we have depth,” Red Wings general manager Ken Holland told reporters earlier this week. “[Mrazek] had a good preseason. In the few outings he had last year he played well.”
Entering play Friday, Detroit has a 6-3-4 record and are tied for fourth place in the Atlantic Division.
