Niklas Kronwall of the Detroit Red Wings will take a scheduled maintenance day off when they play the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night, the second half of a back-to-back, as per head coach Jeff Blashill.
Kronwall has one assist while only appearing in nine games this season, missing time with a knee injury.
Defenceman Xavier Ouellet will draw back into the Red Wings line up in Kronwall’s place.
The native of Bayonne, France has one assist in six games this season.
