Red Wings sign defenceman Brian Lashoff to two-year deal

Sportsnet’s Doug MacLean joined the Starting Lineup this morning to discuss what could happen come the first day of NHL Free Agency on July 1st for the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Detroit Red Wings have re-signed 26-year-old defenceman Brian Lashoff to a two-year, two-way contract.

The 6-foot-3 blue-liner has played parts of the last eight seasons with Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League and has 122 regular season games of NHL experience, where he tallied 13 points and 57 penalty minutes.

Lashoff’s longest stint with the Red Wings came at the end of the 2012-2013 season when he played regular season games and five playoff games. He stuck around for 75 games and another eight playoff games the following year.
