The Detroit Red Wings will place veteran winger Kirk Maltby on waivers Tuesday, sources tell Sportsnet.
The 37-year-old Maltby is on a one-year deal worth $525,000.
Maltby has spent most of his career in Detroit, winning four Stanley Cups (1997, 1998, 2002, 2008) during his 13 seasons with the Red Wings.
In 1,072 NHL games, Maltby has 128 goals and 132 assists for 260 points. The Guelph, Ont., native was originally drafted 65th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft.
