Robin Regher has agreed to waive his no-trade clause in order for the Calgary Flames to complete a deal with the Buffalo Sabres.
Right winger Ales Kotalik will join Regher in Buffalo although it is not immediately known who will be heading north from the Sabres to complete the deal.
Regehr has spent his entire 11-year NHL career with the Flames.
He has two years remaining on his contract with a cap hit of US$4.02 million.
The 31-year-old had 17 points (2-15) in 79 games last season.
Calgary is a team in need of some salary cap relief with roughly $58 million tied up in 19 players for next season.
Kotalik appeared 26 games for the Flames last season recording six points.
