Report: Burmistrov open to returning to NHL, Jets

Burmistrov played two seasons in Winnjipeg before joining the KHL.

Alexander Burmistrov is open to returning to NHL next season, according to a report from Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Free Press.

If Burmistrov decides to re-join the NHL, his rights are controlled by the Winnipeg Jets until he turns 27. Burmistrov, 23, played two full seasons with Winnipeg before joining Ak-Bars Kazan of the KHL as a restricted free agent following the 2012-13 season.

The Toronto Sun reported over the weekend that the Toronto Maple Leafs have some interest in acquiring the Russian forward and former member of the OHL Barrie Colts.

The eighth overall pick (by the now-defunct Atlanta Thrashers) of the 2010 NHL Draft has 10 goals and 16 assists in 53 games this season.
