Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin says head coach Claude Julien will be returning next season, TVA’s Renaud Lavoie reports.
Lavoie says Bergevin confirmed the news to him in an interview Tuesday.
The Canadiens enter play Tuesday with a 30-28-9 record and are on pace to miss the playoffs for the fourth time in the past five seasons. Julien was hired midway through the 2016-17 season and has a 119-105-31 record in 255 games. This is his second stint in Montreal.
There have been eight coaching changes in the NHL this season with the most recent one being the Minnesota Wild, who fired Bruce Boudreau on Feb. 14.
