The Montreal Canadiens could be without defenceman Alexei Emelin for six weeks, according to a report.
Emelin injured his right shoulder after crashing into the boards during the Canadiens’ 4-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators Wednesday.
The 29-year-old is fourth on the Canadiens in average time on ice, behind fellow defencemen P.K. Subban and Andrei Markov and forward Max Pacioretty, with 19:36 per night. He has two goals and 13 points and a plus-10 plus/minus rating in 55 games this season.
The Canadiens recalled defenceman Jarred Tinordi from AHL Hamilton following Wednesday’s game.
