Report: Canadiens lose Dale Weise for 5-10 games

Canadiens forward Dale Weise was forced to leave the Winter Classic, after a tough shift where he was cross-checked, then hit in the hand with a point shot.

Just as the Montreal Canadiens got Brendan Gallagher back in the lineup, it looks like they’ll lose another part of the offence.

Dale Weise, who has surprised just about everyone with his 11 goals so far this season, will reportedly miss the next 5-to-10 games with a right forearm/wrist injury that he sustained in the second period of the 2016 NHL Winter Classic.

The 27-year-old left the New Year’s Day game at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., after first taking a cross-check to the back and then taking a shot through traffic off his arm. He did not return.

Weise, whose 11 goals this season is already a career-high, is second in team goal scoring and has 20 points in 40 games.
