The Arizona Coyotes will be without veteran defenceman Niklas Hjalmarsson for approximately three months after he suffered a cracked fibula, according to Craig Morgan of The Athletic.
Hjalmarsson, 32, was hurt in Saturday’s loss to the Colorado Avalanche when he blocked a shot from Erik Johnson. He left the game at 7:29 of the first period and didn’t return.
The 13-year NHL veteran is in his third season with the Coyotes. He had 10 assists and 44 penalty minutes in 82 games last season.
This season he has one goal in four games.
