Report: Impending UFA winger Brett Connolly has spoken with Oilers

Brett Connolly redirects the shot from Nick Jensen over the blocker side of Devan Dubnyk, this goal would tie the Washington Capitals 1-1 with the Minnesota Wild in the second period.

Impending unrestricted free agent Brett Connolly has spoken to the Edmonton Oilers, his agent, Gerry Johannson, reportedly said during a radio appearance on 630 CHED in Edmonton on Tuesday.

Connolly, 27, had 22 goals and 24 assists in 81 games for the Washington Capitals last season, his third campaign with the club. He also spent time with the Boston Bruins and the Tampa Bay Lightning after being drafted by the latter with the sixth-overall pick in the 2010 NHL Draft.

He is coming off a two-year, $3-million contract signed with Washington in 2017.

The Oilers are, once again, searching for solutions on the wing to deploy next to star centremen Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
