Report: Kevin Spacey to drop puck at Panthers game Saturday

Jonathan Huberdeau joined Hockey Central @ Noon to talk about playing with Jaromir Jagr, making the playoffs, and the team’s love of Kevin Spacey.

We’ve reached peak “Spacey in Space.”

The Florida Panthers‘ player of the game sweater that features actor Kevin Spacey’s disembodied head “in space” has taken off and it may result in the Academy Award winner visiting the hockey rink.

George Richards of the Miami Herald reported Thursday that Spacey is set to attend a Panthers game to drop a ceremonial puck at centre ice. The team has yet to confirm he will attend the game but Spacey hinted as much with a tweet Thursday.

No words from the usually talkative Verbal Kint.

From the Miami Herald:

Although the team has been very tight-lipped about what the significance of the sweatshirts mean, one player said members of the team met Spacey in December when the Panthers were in New York.

The team subsequently went on a franchise-record 12-game winning streak.

The Panthers have been selling the sweatshirts at their team store only to sell out of them. Proceeds go to the team’s charity foundation as well as the Kevin Spacey Foundation.
