On the heels of the acquisition of goaltender Jonathan Bernier from the Los Angeles Kings, the Toronto Maple Leafs continue to be the subject of trade rumours.
The Maple Leafs have reportedly spoken with the Edmonton Oilers about the availability of centre Sam Gagner.
Gagner, drafted sixth overall by the Oilers in 2006, was second on the Oilers with 38 points in 48 games and led all forwards in ice time, averaging 19:24 per game.
The 23-year-old restricted free agent signed a $3.2-million deal last summer — the second short-term deal he has signed since his entry-level contract expired.
