Report: Kris Letang cleared for intense training

Kris Letang just can't catch a break this season after a big check from Shane Doan caused the Penguins defender to fall awkwardly tail-bone first into the boards.

Finally some good news for Kris Letang, as the Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman has been cleared to resume intense training, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.

Letang has been recovering from a concussion he suffered on March 28 after hitting his head against the boards after a collision with Arizona Coyotes captain Shane Doan.

The 28-year-old finished with a career high 54 points despite only playing 69 games this season. The Montreal native has been one of the most injury-plagued stars in the NHL over the last several years, missing 102 regular season games since the 2011-12 campaign.
