Report: Senators’ Mark Stone could be healthy scratch vs. Devils

The Hockey Central at Noon panel discuss how Mark Stone’s situation at the NHL Trade Deadline could have ramifications on the future of the other members of the Ottawa Senators.

Ottawa Senators forward Mark Stone could be a healthy scratch for Thursday night’s game against the New Jersey Devils, according to the Ottawa Sun‘s Bruce Garrioch.

Stone is likely to be a scratch “unless the two sides are able to come to an agreement on a new deal” ahead of the game in New Jersey, as per Garrioch, for which “there’s not a lot of optimism.”

If the 26-year-old is scratched, he’ll likely join fellow pending unrestricted free agent Matt Duchene in the press box after Duchene didn’t play on Tuesday night.

According to Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos, Ryan Dzingel could also be scratched along with Stone and Duchene. The 26-year-old is in the final season of a two-year deal and is also a candidate to be dealt ahead of Monday’s 3 p.m. ET trade deadline.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Senators recalled forwards Darren Archibald and Filip Chlapik from AHL Belleville.
