Report: Senators’ Pageau could be out four to six months

NHL insider John Shannon joins Good Show to dissect the Erik Karlsson trade to the San Jose Sharks, saying the Ottawa Senators won’t be able to measure their return until 2021.

It’s been a rough day for Ottawa Senators fans.

On the same afternoon the team traded captain Erik Karlsson to the San Jose Sharks, reports have surfaced that forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau could require Achilles’ tendon surgery.

The 25-year-old may be out four to six months, according to TVA Sports’ Renaud Lavoie.

While addressing the Karlsson trade, Senators general manager refused to comment on Pageau’s status and added that an update will be given on Friday.

Drafted by Ottawa in the fourth round (96th overall) in 2011, Pageau scored 14 goals and 29 points in 78 games for the Senators last season. In 329 career regular-season contests, the Ottawa native has 59 goals and 130 points, adding 12 goals and 16 points in 35 post-season games.
