There is no timetable set for Minnesota Wild defenceman Mathew Dumba‘s return, NHL.com’s Jessi Pierce reports.

Dumba, who was forced to leave a Dec. 15 game against the Calgary Flames and has been out ever since with a ruptured right pectoral muscle, underwent surgery on Dec. 26 and was originally expected to miss at least three months.

Nearly a month after undergoing the procedure and despite the lack of an updated timeline, he’s keeping a positive attitude to his recovery.

“I’ll be back eventually, whether it’s this year or next, and I’ll do the same thing. I’m not worried,” Dumba told Pierce.

Before the injury, Dumba led all NHL defencemen with 12 goals and 22 points in 32 games as the Wild flourished with a 17-12-2 record. Since he went down, Minnesota’s only 6-9-1.

The Wild also announced on Thursday that they have recalled defenceman Louie Belpedio from the AHL’s Iowa Wild.

Belpedio, 22, has three goals and 10 points in 40 AHL games this season. He recorded two assists in one NHL game with Minnesota in the 2017-18 season.
