Return of Fleury’s yellow pads draw rave reviews

It was the return of a familiar style in the NHL.

Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury brought back his famous yellow pads against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday night.

The reaction from fans across the league was varied, with some loving the can’t-miss pads, and some thinking they should have stayed in the past.

Fleury became famous for the pads while playing for the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He continued to wear them through the first few years of his professional career before changing his look a few years ago.

The pads will be worn with the Penguins third jerseys that resemble the same look they had in the early 1990s.
