Rob Blake’s career achievements

Rob Blake didn’t carry the same kind of name value that Wayne Gretzky did, but he was instrumental in helping establishing the Los Angeles Kings as a legitimate hockey franchise.

Here’s a look at Blake’s accomplishments as an NHL player that helped him reach the Hall of Fame.

Team and individual achievements

  • Blake was a member of the 2001 Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche.
  • He was an Olympic gold medalist with Team Canada in 2002, as well as a two-time gold medalist as the World Championship.
  • Blake won the Norris Trophy as the league’s best defenceman in 1997-98.
  • Named to the NHL All-Rookie Team in 1990-91.
  • Seven NHL All-Star Game appearances (1994, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004).
  • NHL First All-Star Team (1997-98); NHL Second All-Star Team (1999-00, 2000-01, 2001-02).
