Rogers on Flames: Jumping the gun

Now that Miikka Kiprusoff has retired, the Calgary Flames' goaltending situation has become cloudy.

To set the record straight, Miikka Kiprusoff is not leaving town after tonight’s game against the Detroit Red Wings.

It seems the media have made up their mind that Kipper is done after this season and will not return for the final year of his contract. Miikka has not come out and stated one way or the other whether he will return or not.

Talking to coach Bob Hartley, he feels Kiprusoff does not even know what he is going to do next year, and will decide during the summer. Hartley also said that Kipper will probably be playing the final home game on Friday, so what are the papers, television and radio personalities going to talk about then?

Kiprusoff deserves a hero’s send-off and it will probably start tonight, but I am hoping we are doing that next year at the final home game, not tonight or this Friday.
