UNIONDALE, N.Y. — Dwayne Roloson is heading to the Island to help put off retirement.
The veteran goalie signed a two-year deal with the New York Islanders. He’ll be 41 when the contract expires.
Roloson appeared in 63 games for the Edmonton Oilers last season, finishing with a 28-24-9 record and a 2.77 goals-against average.
He helped the Oilers to the 2006 Stanley Cup final after being acquired from Minnesota at the trade deadline.
Edmonton was reluctant to offer the 39-year-old anything longer than a one-year deal.
In 462 career NHL games with Calgary, Minnesota and Edmonton, Roloson has 167 career wins and 23 shutouts.
