Sportsnet’s Hockey Night in Canada and Rogers Hometown Hockey host Ron MacLean has been nominated for Best Sports Host at the Canadian Screen Awards.
“Ron has set the Sports broadcast standard for Canadians on hockey’s most important night, on the country’s most recognizable show,” the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television wrote when announcing the nomination.
In total, Sportsnet received nine nominations for a variety of broadcasting achievements in 2018.
Jim Hughson was nominated for Best Sports Play by Play announcer for his work on Hockey Night in Canada.
Elliotte Friedman was nominated for Best Sports Analyst for his work on Hockey Night in Canada.
Sherali Nejak, Brian Spear, Ron Forsythe, Ed Hall were nominated for Best Live Sports Event for their production of Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Washington Capitals and Vegas Golden Knights.
Jeremy McElhanney, Ryan Knight, John Woo, Mark Wade, Stephen Brunt, Marc Leblanc were nominated for Best Sports Program or Series for their feature I Am: Auston Matthews.
George Skoutakis, Vince Monteleone, Dan Robson, Devon Burns, Marc Leblanc were nominated for Best Sports Program or Series for their feature Kevin Stevens: Shattered.
Ron Forsythe was nominated for Best Direction, Live Sports Event for his work during the 2018 Stanley Cup Final.
Michael Adach, Mark Wade, Gabriel Levesque, Travis Formosa, Alison Redmond, Marc Leblanc were nominated for Best Feature Sports Segment for their feature on a Syrian refugee family learning to play hockey.
Paul Sidhu, Mark Wade, George Skoutakis, John Woo, Kardinal Offishall, Ryan Knight were nominated for Best Sports Opening for their opening Northern Touch during the Toronto Raptors’ playoff run.
