Hurricanes GM shames Kaberle on radio

Carolina Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford is not happy with Tomas Kaberle and he wants everyone to know.

In a recent radio interview on NHL Open Ice on XM Radio, Rutherford said: “Tomas Kaberle better pick up his game or he won’t be in Carolina long.”

Kaberle, a longtime Toronto Maple Leaf, won a Stanley Cup with the Boston Bruins last season. The Czech defenceman signed with Carolina as an unrestricted free agent in the summer.

Since joining the Hurricanes, the 33-year-old has struggled mightily. In 25 games this season Kaberle has zero goals, a mere five assists, and is minus-12.

Carolina recently fired its head coach Paul Maurice, replacing him with Kirk Muller in an attempt to turn things around.
