Should Ryan Callahan be suspended for this dangerous hit?

Ryan Callahan may be in some trouble with Player Safety after this brutal hit to Kris Letang's head that saw the star defenceman leave the game.

Early in the Penguins-Lightning series, controversy has already struck.

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Ryan Callahan was assessed a five minute major for boarding after he hit Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Kris Letang from behind against the corner boards.

Letang left for the dressing room while the Lightning killed off the major penalty. Callahan remained in the game.

[UPDATE: On Saturday, the league determined that Callahan will not face additional discipline for the play.]

The Penguins defenceman appeared to look over his shoulder as both players approached the boards. He played the puck and moved to avoid Callahan who appeared to drive his elbow to the back of Letang’s head as both bodies hit the boards. Letang left for the room under his own power but did return to the bench.
