Sabres agree to entry-level deal with defenceman Lawrence Pilut

The Buffalo Sabres have signed defenceman Lawrence Pilut to a two-year, entry-level deal, the team announced on Tuesday.

The five-foot-11, 179-pound blue-liner led all Swedish Hockey League defencemen with 38 points in 52 games for HV71 this past season on the way to being named the 2017-18 SHL Defenseman of the Year.

The Tingsryd, Sweden native recorded 71 points in 191 career SHL games, all for HV71. He also represented Sweden at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship, where he scored two goals and added two assists in eight games.
