Sabres’ Deslauriers out 3-5 weeks with lower-body injury

Nicholas Deslauriers of the Buffalo Sabres took Leo Komarov for a ride into the rounded side of the boards near the benches that left the pesky Leafs forward staggered a bit.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Sabres forward Nicolas Deslauriers will miss between three and five weeks with a lower body injury.

Coach Dan Bylsma made the announcement following practice on Monday without revealing the exact nature of the injury. Bylsma said Deslauriers was hurt in a 4-3 loss to Detroit on Saturday.

Deslauriers is a hard-hitting forward who has three goals and seven points in 38 games this season.

The Sabres have recalled forward Tim Schaller from their AHL affiliate in Rochester, New York. He had two assists in six games with Buffalo earlier this season.

The Sabres (15-20-4) have lost four straight and close a three-game homestand on Tuesday, when they host Atlantic Division-leading Florida.
