Sabres hire Mike Komisarek as player development coach

The Buffalo Sabres have hired Mike Komisarek as a player development coach.

Komisarek was an NHL defenceman for 11 seasons, spending time with the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Carolina Hurricanes.

He was voted into the starting lineup of the 2009 NHL All-Star Game in Montreal alongside his then-defensive partner Andrei Markov.

The West Islip, N.Y., native finished his playing career with 14 goals, 81 points, and 679 penalty minutes in 551 games.
