BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Sabres top prospect Jack Eichel has signed a sponsorship deal with Bauer Hockey.
In a release issued Thursday, the company announced the player drafted second overall in June will exclusively wear its equipment. Bauer will also supply Eichel with its line of clothes.
Eichel played for Boston University last season, and became only the second freshman to win the Hobey Baker Award as college hockey’s MVP. The centre had 26 goals and 45 assists to lead the nation with 71 points in 40 games.
Eichel and top pick, Edmonton’s Connor McDavid, have both been described as having once-in-a-generation type of talent.
In June, McDavid signed a sponsorship deal with Bauer’s rival, CCM Hockey.
