Sabres recall defenceman Brendan Guhle from WHL

Hockey Central at Noon crew discuss the emerging Buffalo Sabres, who still have Alexander Nylander in waiting, which sets up the debate of who will be better, Alex or William?

The Buffalo Sabres have recalled 19-year-old defenceman Brendan Guhle from the WHL’s Prince George Cougars on an emergency basis.

The move comes on the heels of a foot injury suffered by veteran defenceman Josh Gorges who was injured blocking a shot in Thursday’s game against the New York Rangers.

The emergency basis title means that Guhle must be returned to Prince George as soon as Gorges is healthy enough to return to the lineup.

Guhle, who has four points in six career AHL games, was drafted by the Sabres with the 51st overall pick in the 2015 NHL entry draft.

The native of Sherwood Park, Alta. could make his NHL debut with the Sabres (9-9-5) when they host the Boston Bruins (13-10-1) on Saturday.
