Sabres’ Sobotka out indefinitely after surgery on right knee

Nikita Kucherov hit Vladimir Sobotka with a late, low-bridge hit to force him to leave the game.

Buffalo Sabres forward Vladimir Sobotka underwent successful surgery on his right knee Tuesday and will be out indefinitely, the team announced.

Sobotka was hurt after taking a late, bridge hit from Tampa Bay Lightning star Nikita Kucherov during the Sabres’ 3-2 loss in Stockholm, Sweden as part of the NHL Global Series.

The 32-year-old needed help from teammates to get off the ice after the collision.

Sobotka had three points in 16 games with the Sabres, his second year in Buffalo.

He has collected 171 points across 548 games with the Boston Bruins, St. Louis Blues and Sabres.
