Sharks’ Burish tweets pic of shot-block damage

Joe Pavelski notched a hat trick, hitting the 37-goal mark on the season, leading the Sharks to a win over the Oilers.

San Jose Sharks forward Adam Burish suffered a nasty-looking broken finger Tuesday night after being struck by a Jeff Petry shot in Edmonton, and has tweeted out the photographic evidence to prove it:

After blocking a hard shot from Oilers defenceman Petry with his left hand, Burish left the game, a 5-2 Sharks victory, in the second period and underwent a medical procedure Wednesday to repair the damage. (Watch at the 45-seond mark in the highlights above.)

The Sharks, who are in a tight battle with the Anaheim Ducks for the Pacific Division title, recalled forward Freddie Hamilton from AHL affiliate Worcester. Hamilton has 19 goals and 37 points in 54 AHL games this season.

No timetable has been set for the veteran Burish’s return. He is listed as day-to-day.

The Sharks, who are on a four-game point streak, welcome the Winnipeg Jets to San Jose Thursday night.
