The longest suspension of the 2012-13 NHL season could be dealt out today.
San Jose Sharks forward Ryane Clowe was suspended indefinitely Saturday pending the outcome of a supplementary discipline hearing Monday afternoon for an incident that occurred during Friday’s 2-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.
Clowe waived his right to an in-person hearing and the infraction will be discussed over the phone instead. Because he was offered an in-person hearing, Clowe’s ban could exceed five games.
At the end of Friday game, Clowe was assessed a minor for roughing and a game misconduct for leaving the players’ bench to start an altercation (watch above).

If the NHL determines Clowe left the bench illegally, he will be assessed an automatic 10-game suspension without pay and his club will be fined $10,000. If he left the bench on a legal line change, he still is subject to supplemental discipline.
