The Philadelphia Flyers received some good news and some bad news on Thursday as forward Scott Hartnell was cleared to return to practice, but Matt Read will miss six weeks with a rib injury.
Hartnell missed his 15th consecutive game Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins, but he is on track to return to game action in a week to 10 days, general manager Paul Holmgren said. Hartnell has been recovering from a broken left foot sustained in a Jan. 22 loss to the New Jersey Devils.

The 26-year-old is currently the team’s leading goal-scorer with seven tallies so far this season.
