This isn’t the only Teemu Selanne video we’re going to have to watch this year.
The age-defying Anaheim Ducks forward’s sayonara season will be accompanied by a feature documentary.
Sel8nne, which premiered last week in the Flash’s native Finland, can’t come across the Atlantic fast enough. Fittingly, the film rates an 8/10 on IMDB.
“We’re going quite deep. The story has to be honest and right, otherwise it’s not worth it,” Selanne explained to Finnish website mtv3.fi last year. “We can see things in the movie that you wouldn’t see otherwise.”
Here are eight reasons — gleaned from the 107-second trailer above (now with subtitles!) — we can’t wait to see Sel8nne, directed by Jukka-Pekka Siili.
1. The lovable talent has a dark side: “I’ve also been a rascal.”
2. Selanne uses a biology-class skeleton and a stethoscope to illustrate all of his injuries (once simultaneously broke his shinbone and fibula).
3. He has a twin brother, Paavo, who isn’t as good at hockey. Curious to see what he’s all about.
4. Selanne is his son’s idol. Understandable. I want a Hall of Fame hockey dad who looks equally comfortable piloting a convertible sportscar or a fighter jet.
5. He’s hilarious. Or, at least, the guy hired to write subtitles is.
6. He’s also emotional and has been through some serious stuff over his 43 years.
7. Even though it looks like he’s done it all, he’s not done living: “I’m still wondering what I’ll do when I grow up.”
