Senators’ Burrows, Borowiecki to miss Game 6 vs. Penguins

Dion Phaneuf and Guy Boucher talk about the Senators ability to bounce back in Game 6, as they've fought off adversity all season long.

The Ottawa Senators will be without forward Alex Burrows and defenceman Mark Borowiecki as they face possible elimination against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Final Tuesday night.

Burrows missed Games 4 and 5 of the series due to a lower-body injury suffered in Game 3. The veteran forward appeared to get tangled up with Pittsburgh defenceman Ian Cole in front of the Penguins’ net.

Borowiecki was injured in Game 2 of the Senators’ first-round series against the Boston Bruins when he went barrelling into the boards feet-first. He began skating with the team earlier in the week and was considered hopeful for Game 6, but will remain out.

Forward Ryan Dzingel will be back in the lineup after missing Game 5. He’ll take the spot of Tommy Wingels.

The lineup updates come a day after head coach Guy Boucher confirmed that Erik Karlsson, Derick Brassard and Cody Ceci will play in Game 6. There was some doubt surrounding their statuses after all three players left Sunday’s Game 5 blowout loss.

The Senators will still do a little bit of fine-tuning ahead of game time. Veteran forward Chris Kelly’s status will be decided following tonight’s warmup, and the same will go for rookie Colin White. The 20-year-old forward has just two NHL games’ worth of experience after making his debut on April 3, and could get his first post-season start Tuesday.

Down 3-2 in the series, Ottawa is in must-win mode as Pittsburgh attempts to book its second straight trip to the Stanley Cup Final.
