Sens’ Leclaire has surgery, season over

Ottawa Senators goaltender Pascal Leclaire underwent hip surgery earlier this week, officially putting an end to his 2010-11 season.

The recovery time is expected to take anywhere between three to four months. The procedure was performed on Monday in Veil, Colo.

Leclaire had not played since Dec. 16. He was listed as having an undisclosed lower body injury at the time and did attempt to come back and practise with the team in early January.

In 14 games with the Sens this season, Leclaire posted a 4-7-1 record with a 2.83 GAA.

Leclaire, who was acquired by the Senators in February 2009, is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. Earlier this month, general manager Bryan Murray indicated that Leclaire was not in the Senators plans moving forward.
