Ottawa Senators defenceman Nikita Zaitsev will miss the next two to four weeks with an undisclosed injury, according to head coach D.J. Smith.

The 28-year-old was hurt blocking shots last weekend against the Columbus Blue Jackets and missed practice earlier this week.

He has eight assists in 32 games this season for the Senators, his first year with the club.

Zaitsev has consistently logged big minutes on the Ottawa back end this season.
