Senators to scratch Bobby Ryan against Sharks, Chlapik recalled

Ottawa Senators head coach D.J. Smith talks about holding Bobby Ryan and the other 22 guys on the roster accountable for their play.

Bobby Ryan will be a healthy scratch for the Ottawa Senators on Sunday night when they host the San Jose Sharks.

Senators head coach D.J. Smith confirmed the news Sunday morning and said 22-year-old Filip Chlapik would be recalled from AHL Belleville.

Ryan, 32, has one goal and three assists through 10 games this season for Ottawa (2-7-1) while seeing reduced ice time in the process. He hasn’t logged more than 15:20 all year.

Chlapik has one goal in six games in the AHL after opening the year with the Senators. He had an assist in an opening night loss to Toronto.
