The Ottawa Senators traded goaltender Ben Bishop to the Tampa Bay Lightning for Cory Conacher and a fourth-round pick.

In 13 appearances for the Sens this season, the Denver native went 8-5 with a .922 save percentage, a goals-against average of 2.45 and one shutout.

Despite solid play when called upon, Bishop became the odd man out in Ottawa since Craig Anderson has established himself as one of the premiere starters in the NHL and Robin Lehner is dubbed as the franchise’s goalie of the future.

The 26-year-old currently has a salary cap hit of $650,000 and becomes a restricted free agent at the end of the season.

Bishop was acquired by the Sens prior to last season’s trade deadline from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for a second-round draft pick.

Conacher got off to a hot start in his rookie season this year, accumulating 24 points in 35 games. The Burlington, Ont., native signed with the Lightning’s AHL affiliate Norfolk Admirals in July 2011 as an undrafted free agent.

The 23-year-old is in the first year of a two-year entry-level contract worth $925,000 per season.
