Senators’ Thomas Chabot suffers lower-body injury vs. Canadiens

Watch as Brendan Gallagher takes down Thomas Chabot against the boards, causing the Senators defenceman to leave the game with a lower body injury, then fights Brady Tkachuk.

Ottawa Senators defenceman Thomas Chabot was ruled out for the remainder of Saturday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens after suffering a lower-body injury in the first period, the team announced.

While retreating for a loose puck in his own zone, Chabot got tangled up with Montreal forward Brendan Gallagher. When the two players reached the boards, Chabot appeared to hit his right knee directly off the boards.

He got up and headed for the bench without putting much weight on his right leg. Later, Chabot went back on the ice to test his leg, but shook his head while skating and returned to the bench. He was minus-one with one shot and 4:22 skated in Saturday’s game.

In 61 games this season, Chabot has five goals and 33 points.
