Shane Doan to return to Coyotes lineup after missing nine games

Watch as Coyotes’ Shane Doan skates full speed over Jets’ Ondrej Pavelec.

Arizona Coyotes captain Shane Doan, who has missed the past nine games with a groin injury, will make his return to the Coyotes lineup Saturday night against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Doan last played on Nov. 21 against the Winnipeg Jets.

Doan has 10 points in 20 games this year, his 20th in the NHL, spent entirely with the Coyotes franchise. He played one season for the original Jets before they moved south.

He is the franchise leader in games played at 1,414. In that time, the 39-year-old has scored 374 goals and 534 assists for 908 points.

He needs just five more goals to tie Dale Hawerchuk for the most in franchise history, and is 19 assists away from Thomas Steen for the franchise lead in assists.

The Coyotes (14-4-1) come into Saturday’s game having snapped a five-game losing streak with an overtime win against the Minnesota Wild on Friday.
