San Jose Sharks centre Joe Thornton reached the mark of 1,500 career points against the Calgary Flames on Tuesday.

Thornton achieved the historic number with a secondary assist on a goal from Kevin Labanc in the third period, the Sharks’ third goal in the game for a 3-1 lead.
The 40-year-old Thornton has 20 points this season.
A London, Ont., native, Thornton is in his 15th season with San Jose. He was taken with the first pick in the 1997 NHL Draft by the Boston Bruins, where he spent the first eight years of his NHL career.
