Should Lightning’s OT non-goal have counted?

It looked as if Nikita Kucherov won Game 1 for the Tampa Bay Lighting in overtime, but the goal was waved off after it was ruled that Carey Price was interfered with.

Three minutes into the first overtime period of Game 1, Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov thought he scored the winner on Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price but to no avail.

Kucherov was stopped by Price’s pad on a breakaway but the puck crossed the goal line as both skater and goalie slid into the net.

The referee waved the goal off immediately, saying Price was pushed into the night, and after a brief consultation the decision was confirmed.

Lightning players and coaches were upset with the call on the bench as they felt the goal should have counted.

In the end, Kucherov did in fact net the game winning as he wristed one by Price early in the second overtime period.
