The Calgary Flames have invited forwards Devante Smith-Pelly and Tobias Rieder to camp on professional tryouts, the club announced Wednesday.

Forwards Zac Rinaldo and Alexandre Grenier have also been invited on PTOs, along with previously announced defender Andrew MacDonald.

Smith-Pelly, 27, highlights the group, having helped the Washington Capitals capture the 2018 Stanley Cup. The Scarborough, Ont., native suited up for 24 games during Washington’s run, posting eight points and skating 12:02 minutes per night. He posted three of those points in his final three games of that post-season, scoring goals in Games 3, 4 and 5 to help clinch the Cup.

Rieder is coming off a difficult season in Edmonton that saw him record zero goals and just 11 points through 67 games for the Oilers. The 26-year-old’s best years came in Arizona, where he notched 13, 14 and 16 goals over his first three years in the league.

Journeyman Rinaldo, 29, will try to crack his fifth NHL squad after suiting up for just 23 games at the NHL level last season. Grenier, 27, has nine NHL games on his resume, all with the Vancouver Canucks.
